IKON South Africa

Rainbow Circle Films and Story AB hereby call for proposals for short documentaries to be produced for the Ikon South Africa short documentary series.

Films ideas for short documentaries ranging from 3 minutes to 15 minutes will be considered. We will be looking for films that show strong connections between filmmakers and subject matter as well as films exploring important issues in a creative way. The films will be packaged in a television programme and distributed internationally on DVD.

Directors and Writers can submit their proposals electronically to giosev@mweb.co.za
Proposals should be submitted by no later than 30 June 2005.

Proposals should contain:
• Synopsis of film
• Treatment of film and research approach
• List of key personnel
(Not a requirement)
• Rights clearance letter that states that the idea is original and that there are no third -party claims to the story.
• CV of Director

Each proposal will be acknowledged by e-mail or fax and given a reference number.
Filmmakers will be notified by 31 July 2005 as to how far the commissioning process has gone. A selection panel consisting of the Ikon producers and funding representatives will select the films to be produced.
